The Seattle based artists came to Boise for a show at the Knitting Factory on Thursday, October 18th which sold out. This was one of the many stops on their 65 city U.S. tour celebrating the release of their new album “The Heist”.
Needless to say this was one of the best shows I have ever been to. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis not only know how to write great music, but the also know how to electrify their fans.
The energy that these two and their entire crew bring to the stage is absolutely awesome. Ladies and gentlemen, this isn’t your traditional hip-hop show. I’m talking live instruments and featured artists. Trumpets, cellos, and violins definitely give this show a real authentic feel and the crowd knows their in for a treat.
For their newest single from “The Heist,” guest artist Wanz made an appearance sporting his pink suit as featured in their viral video “Thrift Shop,” which made the crowd go wild. I’ve read previous reviews of their shows and how great it is to hear an entire sold out crowd singing “Same love,” but I couldn’t get over the fact that everyone in the crowd seemed to know almost every word to every song.
After a long night of positive messages, sick beats, and an amazing performance, the duo ended the show diving into the crowd and Macklemore finished off literally standing on the crowd while performing “Irish Celebration,” in a bittersweet encore. I say bittersweet in that it was such a great show, but I think if people had a choice they would have stayed for more.
Don’t miss these guys when they come back through Boise.
